Why Fair Housing Training Is Required
Fair Housing training educates real estate professionals on federal, state, and local laws designed to prevent discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability, and other protected classes.
Adhering to Fair Housing laws not only protects you as an agent but also upholds the trust and integrity of the real estate profession. By completing this training, you will:
- Understand your legal responsibilities and ethical obligations
- Recognize discriminatory practices and how to avoid them
- Learn how to provide inclusive, respectful service to all clients
- Help build stronger, more diverse communities
Training Requirements For ECBOR Members
Fair Housing training is a required part of onboarding for new REALTOR® members and an important refresher for experienced professionals. The National Association of REALTORS® and the Indiana Real Estate Commission recommend regular training to stay current with evolving laws and best practices.
New members must complete Fair Housing training within their first year of membership. Continuing education courses are also available for members looking to deepen their knowledge or fulfill state CE credit requirements.

Training is regularly offered both in-person and online to fit your schedule and learning preferences. Our Fair Housing courses cover essential topics such as:

Fair Housing laws are a fundamental part of ethical real estate practice and legal compliance. The Elkhart County Board of REALTORS® is dedicated to ensuring that all members understand and uphold these important protections that promote equal access to housing for everyone.
